Rural, remote education needs help: MP
AAP
An independent commissioner for regional, rural and remote education will improve opportunities and outcomes for students outside the major cities, an independent MP and education advocate claims.
Cathy McGowan says the education sector backs a commissioner advising the federal government on strategies to support and improve all levels of education from childcare to universities.
"The education sector understands that if you don't actually pay attention to rural and regional education, if you just make it compete with the cities, then you lose out," she said.
