Robber on the run after crashing car in crime spree

A man is on the run after a brazen crime spree in Brisbane's south.

A tobacco store attendant in Runcorn was threatened by a man wielding a knife, before staff were threatened at an Australia Post store.

The robber then managed to steal cash and cigarettes from an IGA before apologising and fleeing the scene.

Witnesses were able to take down the man's registration plate and report it to police, who found the man's crashed car on Compton Road shortly afterwards.

The man had clipped another car, hit a tree and overturned before managing to kick out the windows and escape on foot.

A major search of nearby bushland involving PolAir, and a roadblock failed to locate the offender.
