‘Babe’ voice actress Christine Cavanaugh dies aged 51

Christine Cavanaugh, who voiced the iconic Babe the pig and Chuckie from animated show Rugrats, has died aged 51.

The actress' obituary printed today said she died before Christmas on December 22 but her cause of death has not been released.

"Christine has touched many lives, some we know and others we do not," her obituary, published in the Los Angeles Times, read.

In addition to the titular pig in the 1995 classic Babe, her other voice-over credits included Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory and Marty Sherman in The Critic.

She retired from voice-acting in 2001 to be closer to her family.

"She was able to do incredible and amazing things with her voice and bring lots of smiles and many laughs to many people who are now young adults," her obituary read.

"Her imagination, humor and intelligence were evident to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her."

Cavanaugh, a Utah native, married Kevin Cavanaugh in 1985, but the pair later divorced.

She had no children but was godmother to Isabel Torres, the daughter of a childhood friend.

She was survived by her father Kirt Johnson, and her siblings and half-siblings.
