Royals touch down in Sydney briefly

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made a fleeting stopover in Sydney with baby Prince George on their way to New Zealand.

The family transferred from a commercial flight from the UK through the VIP area on Monday morning just after 7am.

Looking like any family that has just endured a 24-hour flight with a baby, Prince William walked ahead of Kate, who carried eight-month-old baby George who was dressed in a navy blue jumpsuit.

The family didn't wave at waiting media.

Prince William carried several bags as well as what looked to be a cuddly toy, while Kate dressed in a grey wrap dress and nude heels carried a happy looking George.

They were then driven in convoy to the tarmac where they walked up the stairs and boarded a Royal New Zealand Air Force plane to Wellington.

The royal entourage will land in Wellington just before noon, to start their 10-day New Zealand visit, before returning to Australia on April 16.

It's the first time the Duchess has visited New Zealand and Australia. It's also the first time Prince George has been on any official royal engagements abroad.
