Royal wedding: Prince Harry looks relaxed and happy meeting well wishers in Windsor

“How are you feeling Harry?”

“Relaxed of course!”

Prince Harry might have less than 24 hours left before he says “I do”, but there were no pre-wedding jitters on show as he took a stroll out of Windsor Castle with his big brother and best man William.

The royal pair looked cool, calm and collected as they walked out of King Henry VIII gate and down Castle Hill to greet well-wishers who came from all over the world.

They shook as many hands as they could, grinning and sharing a few laughs with the crowd.

Harry was relaxed, dressed in a grey blazer, white shirt and blue chinos and sporting a beard - prompting many to ask if he’ll arrive at the chapel clean shaven tomorrow.

“I have followed the royal family since I was a little girl, since Charles and Diana got married, and I really wanted to be at one of the boys weddings and I finally made it,” Janice Barnes from North Carolina told 9news.com.au.

“I’m just so excited, I didn’t know this would happening today, I hoped but I didn’t know and then when it happened it seemed surreal.

“They were both so lovely.”

Both Harry and William took time to stop and chat with their fans, including the dozens of children who were there waiting with baited breath for a moment with the princes.

“What’s your name?” Harry asked one young fan.

“It’s Meghan,” she replied.

“Meghan with an H?”

“Yes!”

“That’s very rare,” the Prince replied, looking chuffed as he grinned at his wife’s namesake.

Sharon Avison and Greta Ireson are no strangers to royal weddings.

They attended Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials in 2011 and wanted to express their joy at Harry’s marriage.

“I said to him, ‘your mum would be very proud of you and he said thank you very much,’” Sharon told 9news.com.au.

William’s conversation was a bit more casual, and seemed to indicate there was one thing very important on his mind as he spoke to Greta – a drink.

“He said ‘I hope you’ll be having a tipple later on,’” Greta told 9news.com.au.

“And I said ‘yes’ and he said, ‘a G and T?’ and I was said ‘yes’ and said he that I was ‘a G and T lady.’”

Today’s 10 minute meet-and-greet was much anticipated but not a definite.

Murmuring spread across Windsor throughout the day and by 5pm local time (2am AEST) it was looking like the groom would come out.

Crowds flocked to the High Street and along Castle Hill, as media crews swooped on any available space they could – and 9news.com.au was right in the thick of it.

At 5.45pm – 19 hours before Harry becomes a husband – a huge roar filled the air, as a sea of hands transformed the crowd, and shouts of “congratulations!” “Marry me!” “We love you!” rang out.

Harry and Meghan will get married at midday at St George’s Chapel, before taking a carriage procession around Windsor.

They’ll have to wait until then to see each other though, spending the night in separate locations.

Meghan will spend her last night as a single woman with her mother Doria Ragland at Cliveden House, about 15 kilometres away from Windsor.

They arrived there late on Friday afternoon after Ms Ragland met the Queen for afternoon tea.

Harry is staying with William at Coworth Park in Ascot.

So, if the turnout for a pre-wedding jaunt is anything to go by, tomorrow is bound to be one magical, royal fairy tale wedding.
