Former federal attorney-general Nicola Roxon has put her law and justice cap back on, becoming an adjunct professor at Melbourne's Victoria University.

Ms Roxon will be an adjunct professor in the university's College of Law and Justice, the university announced on Thursday.

Her primary role will be chair of the advisory board of the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre, which conducts industry-related courses and research.

Ms Roxon, also a former health minister, resigned as attorney-general in February last year and moved to the back bench before bowing out of politics at the September election.
