Fourth teen charged after 'stolen' ute smashes into family home

A fourth teenager has  been charged after he and three other youths allegedly crashed a stolen ute into a house in Melbourne’s north east this morning.

An elderly couple were asleep in their home on Finlayson Street, Rosanna, when the car smashed through another property's fence before crashing through a brick wall and landing in their kitchen.

“We were fast asleep and all of a sudden I heard a huge bang,” Pino Nasti told 9News.

“It was like the roof was coming down.”

Police allege the Holden Rodeo was stolen from a property in Macleod at about 1.45am.

Four teenagers in the vehicle allegedly fled the scene on foot.

With the help of the Victoria Police Dog Unit, two males and a female teenager were arrested a short distance away trying to get in a taxi on Erskine Street at around 2.30am.

A 15-year-old boy from Heidelberg West, a 15-year-old boy from Coburg and a 15-year-old girl from Bellfield have been charged with motor vehicle theft, theft from a motor vehicle and handling of stolen goods.

The fourth wanted teen, a 13-year-old boy from Fitzroy, was arrested this afternoon and has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and unlicensed driving.

The Heidelberg West boy was remanded to appear at a Children’s court at a later date, while the three other teens were bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
