Axe-wielding thief on the run after holding up Rockhampton pub
An axe-wielding thief has stormed Rockhampton’s Raffles Hotel, threatening a staff member and escaping with cash.
The entire incident, which lasted less than a minute, was caught on security video.
The suspect walked past concerned patrons with a shirt covering his face and approached the bar where he brandished a tomahawk and demanded cash.

The worker stuffed the money inside the man’s bag before he fled the pub.
The dog squad was called in but the man could not be found and remains on the run.
“The offence was very quick. It was obviously premeditated,” Kevin Mawdsley from Queensland Police said.

The thief was last seen wearing a long-sleeved jumper with a white motif on the front, as well as black shoes with white laces.
