One hundred years after our first military aircraft took to the sky, Australia has taken possession of the next generation of fighter jets.

The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is being called the most advanced fighter ever made, and it has a price tag to match.

The most advanced fighter ever made, the single-seat fighter is equipped with a 25mm cannon, two air-to-air missiles and two 2000 pound guided bombs.

It can reach 9 Gs, and at top speed, travels at nearly 2000km per hour.

Australia is the fourth nation to receive the F-35s, and with 72 ordered, it will be home to by far the largest fleet in the region.
