Robbie Williams becomes a meme after New Year's concert

Robbie Williams has whipped out some anti-bacterial hand sanitiser after touching members of the public.

The Brit appeared as a man of the people after singing the traditional New Year song Auld Lang Syne as he grasped hands at midnight with people in the crowd at BBC's annual concert.

But the Better Man vocalist was not impressed with the sweaty outstretched palms of the punters.

With a grimace, he quickly grabbed a bottle of hand sanitiser and applied it liberally.

The scene instantly became a meme for Twitter users.
