Robbers wielding axe storm Melbourne tobacco shop

Four armed men have targeted a tobacco shop in Melbourne’s north during a brazen daylight robbery this afternoon.

Police said the offenders entered the Cignall Thornbury outlet on Miller Street about 2pm.

Video obtained by 9NEWS showed one of the masked robbers running from the store with what appeared to be a cash register.

The offenders also stole cigarettes used an axe before fleeing the scene in a car, police said. 

No one was injured during the incident.

All four thieves have since been arrested and are now in custody, police said.

It comes just a day after a two Melbourne supermarkets, one in Werribee and the other in Bentleigh, were also targeted by robbers.
