Robbers use car to smash through bottle shops
CCTV has captured the first of two dramatic ram raids at bottle shops in Melbourne’s north overnight.
A Watsonia Road business was the first to be targeted, with the offenders smashing through the front of the IGA store about 1.30am.
Video shows a couple of bottles of high-end alcohol being dropped on the floor, as the bumbling offenders grab a few cases and flee.
It’s estimated $10,000 of damage was done to the Watsonia outlet during the incident.
“It’s stupid what they’ve done,” IGA manager Stephen Tilbrook told 9NEWS.
“It takes us time to clean it up.”
About 15 minutes later, the same robbers are believed to have tried to raid a Dan Murphy’s on Plenty Road, Bundoora.
They were unsuccessful in breaking in, and fled in their damaged, green-coloured Mitsubishi Triton.
The car’s registration is QVG-151.
Investigations are ongoing.
