Police charge 27-year-old over stabbing murder in Chelsea Heights

Police have charged a 27-year-old over the stabbing murder of a Bon Beach man last month in Chelsea Heights.

Homicide Squad detectives arrested Alex Manuel at a rural property at Toora in Gippsland early this morning.

A male and a female also at the property are currently assisting officers with their investigation.

Police allege that Manuel and victim, Ricky Thompson, 44, were "involved in a verbal argument in the car park of a licensed premises on 18 June”.

“Ricky was subsequently stabbed and passed away in hospital from his injuries.”

Manuel will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
