Review of party donation rules launched

Parliament's electoral matters committee hopes to reach a multi-party deal on overhauling political donation rules.

The committee, which involves the coalition, Labor and the Greens, on Tuesday launched a review of election funding and the disclosure of donations and spending, with public hearings expected in September and October.

"The committee is determined to develop a robust and transparent political donation process, which requires bipartisan support," committee chairwoman and Liberal senator Linda Reynolds said in a statement.
