A staple of the Australian Cruise scene – the Sea Princess – has arrived in Brisbane following a royal refurbishment.

The upgraded ship will call Queensland home until mid-March and boasts a carrying capacity of 3000 passengers and crew.

It also features four pools, five spas, a range of luxury suites, three brand-new kids clubs and seven bars and lounges.

Cruise ships are big business, contributing $1.1 billion to the Queensland economy in the last year alone. Ninety percent of the produce on board is also sourced locally.

The refurbishment, together with the arrival of Brisbane's new terminal, is expected to spell smooth sailing for the industry.
