Reese Witherspoon wants to see Elle Woods as President

Reese Witherspoon thinks Elle Woods may be just the pink power play American politics needs.

The actress, who played the blonde sorority girl turned law graduate in the 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde and its 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, told Derek Blasberg on Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe it was time to catch up with the character that made her a household name.

“A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it,” Witherspoon said.

“I actually think it’s kind of great right now cause we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women.

“And I think that would be a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office.”

“Or President, go big or go home,” Blasgberg interjected.

“It would be cool,” Witherspoon said.

“I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately.”

A third film in the franchise, called Legally Blondes and produced by Witherspoon, was released in 2009 but did not feature Elle Woods as a character, instead starring Woods’ British twin cousins.

Witherspoon cautioned there were no concrete plans for another movie in the works.
