The man accused of glassing musician and TV star Redfoo at a Sydney pub has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the attack.

The singer, 39, was hit with a bottle allegedly thrown by Arian Berisha at Double Bay’s Golden Sheaf Hotel in late August.

Lawyers representing 21-year-old Berisha said their only information from the case came from Twitter and they wanted “statements of more than 140 characters.”

Mr Berisha is facing charges of malicious contact.

At the time, Redfoo said his trademark glasses might have spared him more serious injuries.

"The people were saying at the hospital that I was really lucky because it hit where my glasses are," The X Factor mentor said after the alleged attack.

"They said that was right around the temple area and the eye and I'm very lucky.”

He said he was hopeful all glass cups and bottles would be removed from clubs after the incident.

“Why are there glass cups? That’s the first thing I thought of,” he told KISS FM.

“I just think that they should use plastic cups, in all establishments. The glass is just too dangerous.”

He joked that he’d need more protection next time.

“Any place I go to now with a glass cup I gotta wear a motorcycle helmet.”
