KFC customer steps in to stop man with ‘gun’ who crashed into fence

A man has crashed his car loaded with weapons into a KFC restaurant in Ipswich, with a witness forced to restrain the man before police arrived.

“This guy here just went to get some wicked wings and he decided to crash into the fence,” witness Steve Kenefick, who filmed the arrest, can be heard saying on camera. 

The 40-year-old driver was pinned down by police in the carpark before he was arrested and escorted away.

“Some guy’s sitting there with a gun on the floor. He wasn't going to gun practice I can guarantee you that,” Mr Kenefick told 9NEWS.

Mr Kenefick calmly took the man’s keys and convinced him to back away from his car before police arrived and arrested the man.

The gun was found to be a replica.

He has been charged with traffic offences but police expect to lay more charges.
