Rapper son of Tom Hanks 'causes $2k damage after trashing hotel room'

The aspiring rapper son of beloved actor Tom Hanks is wanted by British police after a hotel room in his name was trashed.

Chester Hanks, who performs under the names Chet Haze and Chet Hanx, is accused of causing more than A$2000 worth of damage to his room at the Arora International hotel near London’s Gatwick Airport.

Hanks, 24, had reportedly spent the night at a nightclub before returning to the hotel with an actor friend and three women.

A mirror was shattered and a television set torn from the wall at the four-star hotel.

Airline pilots in nearby rooms also complained about the noise coming from Hanks’ suite.

British police confirmed they were investigating the incident.

"A guest has caused an estimated £1,200 [A$2,404] of damage to a hotel room,” a police spokesman told The Sun.

“We have been given the name of the suspect, a 24-year-old man from the USA.

“We are working with other agencies to try to trace him so he can be interviewed."

An unnamed source told the Sunday Mirror Hanks had become aggressive on the night out.

"He was pretty ¬obnoxious once he started drinking at the club," the source said.

"He kept saying 'do you know who I am?'

“Nobody was all that impressed and that was clearly annoying him. Nobody recognised him."

Hanks has recently faced criticism for his use of racially loaded terms on social media and in his music.

"(N-----r) is a word that can be used out of camaraderie and love, not just exclusively for black people,” he wrote on an Instagram account later deleted by the social media service.

“What's the point in putting all these built up 'rules' about it. It's time to let go.

“You can hate me or love me for it, but can't nobody tell me what I can or can't say."
