Kate Langbroek injured as home intruder 'kicks in door'

Radio host Kate Langbroek has told of a “crazed and terrifying attack” on her family's Melbourne home.

Langbroek had just arrived home after an interstate trip on Friday night when she and her husband spotted a man swearing from across the road.

He then allegedly turned and charged towards Langbroek’s St Kilda home, forcing her to run inside and brace her against the door to stop him.

The radio host then claims the intruder tried to kick the door in - all while her children and their babysitter were inside.

“It was fight or flight I guess,” she told 9NEWS this afternoon.

Langbroek posted an image of her injuries from the ordeal on social media.

“This is the bruise I sustained,” the 52-year-old captioned her Twitter post.

Police arrested the 37-year-old alleged intruder near the scene that night.

He appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates Court and has been charged over the alleged aggravated burglary.

He will front court again in May.

Langbroek, who co-hosts the Hughesy & Kate program with comedian Dave Hughes, tagged State Labor Member for Albert Park Martin Foley in her posts.

“The real vulnerable are the decent citizens of St Kilda. We await your action,” she wrote.
