RACQ reveals annual best cars list

Powered by

RACQ has released its annual best cars list with the Subaru Outback taking out best SUV under $50,000 for the third year running.

The motoring body tested 160 cars across 15 categories. SUVs are the fastest growing market along with dual-cab utes, of which the stand-out was the Ford Ranger XLT.

In a category once dominated by Australian made vehicles, the Korean Kia Stinger 200s was the winner of the best large car under $70,000.

"People are no longer saying I'm going to buy a new Holden, they say I'm going to buy a new car," Kirsty Clinton said.

The Mazda 3 Maxx claimed the title for small car under $35,000.
