RAAF flies few missions over Syria

In more than two months since Australia launched the first armed combat mission over Syria, there have been nine such missions, each involving two aircraft, with just two bombs dropped, Defence says.

The RAAF air task group, which operates six F/A-18 Hornet aircraft out of the United Arab Emirates, has flown no combat missions over Syria for more than a month, though missions against Daesh targets in Iraq have continued.

A defence spokesman said no decision had been made to change Australia's contribution following terror attacks in Paris.

"Defence will continue to talk to the Government of Iraq and our coalition partners about the effectiveness of the military campaign against Daesh," the spokesman said.

"Australia will consider its future contributions in light of those discussions," the spokesman said.
