Queenslanders swelter through overnight heatwave

Many Queenslander likely had a restless night’s sleep last night, with the south-east enduring its warmest night in more than a decade.

High humidity made it feel even hotter, as the mercury soared well above the average.

Cloud cover allowed yesterday's warmth to linger overnight the temperature only dipped to 26.5 degrees.

That was enough to make it Brisbane’s warmest night in more than 10 years.

The state’s energy network was under added pressure during the heatwave, with energy provider Energex recording its highest Sunday demand ever.
