Queensland woman charged over alleged medical fraud
A 47-year-old Gold Coast woman has been charged after allegedly providing health care and administered injections to several patients, despite not being a registered health professional.
Sonya Whitestyles was arrested this morning, following a joint investigation between Queensland Police, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Queensland Health Ombudsman.

It's alleged she had been giving medical advice, and administering liquid vitamin injections to patients via hypodermic needles, fraudulently charging them for the service.
It's also alleged she forged a medical practitioner's signature on 1400 prescriptions for various medication, police said.
Ms Whitestyles was charged with 46 offences, including 20 charges of wounding for administering needles without medical authority, 25 offences of fraud, and one offence of dealing with someone else's identification information, used to forge the prescriptions.

Police allege the woman had been operating for two years, between September 2020 and September 2021.
She is expected to face Southport Magistrates Court next month.
Police investigations are ongoing.
