Queensland resident takes law literally into their own hands, paints no-parking line

One frustrated Queenslander has decided to take the law literally into their own hands using spray paint to extend a yellow no parking line on a residential road.

Brisbane police notified council after finding the shakily done paint job on Morningside’s Avon Street.

Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner told the Brisbane Times nobody had lodged a request for an extension of the line.

“We take the issue of illegal parking very seriously and investigate all reports, but it is not up to residents to take matters into their own hands,” he said.

However the innovative resident is unlikely to face any penalty - Sergeant Michelle Mullen said “without evidence” police would not pursue the matter.

“I imagine the line isn’t too far from the line marker. This is the first one that’s come to my attention,” she said.
