Queensland Premier apologises for bringing partner to Olympics meeting

Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has apologised after bringing her partner to an Olympic meeting in Sydney on Sunday.

Ms Palaszczuk maintained the gathering, consisting of members from the International Olympic Committee, the Australian Olympic Committee and the Lord Mayor was an "informal catch-up" following an official meeting on Saturday night.

"Then, because there were a number of people in town, we had a catch-up on Sunday morning," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"I recognise that I have made a mistake and I should not have taken my partner to that meeting."

Ms Palaszczuk's partner, Dr Reza Adib attended the meeting on Sunday and was seen standing for group photos and sitting at a board table among key Olympic officials.

Deputy leader of the opposition Jarrod Bleijie said the move was inappropriate.

"No one else had their partners at the meeting," he said.

"Why was the premier's boyfriend granted a seat at the table? He shouldn't have been there."

The premier said there was nothing confidential discussed at the gathering that wasn't public knowledge, with several more meetings on the agenda to secure plans for the 2032 Brisbane games.

"The Olympics is an enormous opportunity for this state... There are going to be a lot of meetings," she said.

"There will be meetings of the board, and there will be meetings with senior executives, and there will be in-depth discussions like we are having this week in Brisbane.

"My partner will be coming with me to different functions, but he will not be coming to any meetings or catch-ups."
