Queensland police blow up bus in terror attack simulation

Queensland police have blown up a bus filled with dead pigs in a counter-terror training exercise.

The explosion, caught on video released today, was designed to simulate a terror attack.

The service is stepping up its fight against terror, establishing a new Security and Counter Terrorism Command in light of recent attacks across the world.

Some of the biggest weapons in the police’s counter-terror arsenal were on show today, including a ballistic-proof bombcat.

“The investment in the new Command is about preventing and disrupting terrorism incidents in this state before they happen,” Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said.

A former Queensland government building will be the next target of terror simulations. It’s then due to be bulldozed for the Cross River Rail.
