Police hunting home invaders who shot man dead

Police are hunting for intruders who shot a man dead and attacked another with a hammer during a home invasion south of Brisbane.

Four intruders, believed to be three men and a woman, broke into a house at Gleneagle and shot 48-year-old Michael Menzel in the leg just before 6am on Monday.

He died shortly afterwards.

The intruders also attacked a second man, 40, believed to be a housemate. He was tied up and hit on the head with a hammer.

Mr Menzel's 13-year-old daughter was in the house at the time and witnessed the attack on her father. She was not physically injured.

Police have today spoken to a woman, understood to have been identified by the daughter and housemate, but no arrests have been made.

A burnt-out ute was today found dumped at Jimboomba.

Anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle, or has dash cam video or CCTV in the vicinity of Brittany Court before 6am yesterday is urged to come forward.
