Queenslanders lost a record $2.36 billion in poker machines last year.

Across the state, that equates to $270,000 every hour in pubs and clubs alone. The figure doesn't include money taken through pokies within casinos, which aren’t required to break down their pokie revenue for the public.

While the number of poker machines has remained relatively stable, the money they collect is climbing across all major centres in the state's south-east.

In the past 12 months, $530 million was lost in Brisbane, another $336 million was lost on the Gold Coast, as well as $164 million in Logan and $95 million in Ipswich.

The state government takes up to 35 percent of pokie profits in tax.

While both Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and LNP leader Deb Frecklington said they don't want to see any additional pokies introduced across the state, they also won't commit to reducing the number of machines.
