Police say they have caught the man responsible for stabbing a complete stranger in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley earlier this month.

The 38-year-old victim was standing on Ann Street just before 9pm on Sunday May 12 when he was allegedly approached by 27-year-old Zillmere man Keenan Lee Gourley.

Security video shows the moment the man was stabbed. Supplied

After a short conversation it’s alleged Mr Gourley stabbed the victim in the face and chest before running away.

Mr Gourley has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He didn't apply for bail in court today, and will reappear next month.

The victim has since been discharged from hospital.
