Queensland mother shocked by nasty note in mail

A Queensland mother got a nasty shock in the mail when she was sent an anonymous note accusing her of being a negligent parent.

Trish LaForty, 26, reportedly found a note in her mailbox that read: “You may be able to ignore your baby crying, but we are tired of listening to him crying non-stop all day."

Ms LaForty, who lives with her husband and young son on the Sunshine Coast, had spent the day at the beach with her family.

She arrived home to her Coolum apartment when she discovered the note stuffed in her mailbox, which left her emotional and in a state of shock.

“No mum wants to hear that message, regardless of how true it is,” she said.

Ms LaForty took to social media to speak out about the incident, posting a message on her housing block community Facebook page.

“To whoever wrote this note: thanks. Like being a parent isn't tough enough... You didn't even have the guts to come knock on our door,” she wrote.

Her post received an enormous amount of encouraging feedback and support, boasting 500 Facebook likes.

The mother, who has been living in the apartment block for six months, then followed up by confronting her neighbours directly.

“I wanted to clear the air, but also to find out if anyone had experienced any similar notes,” she said.

Ms LaForty remains in the dark about the culprit behind the nasty note, but she says that people should be more respectful of families with young children.

“Every baby has good days and bad days. Parents should be able to have the support from their community,” she said.

“I think it's sad that there are still people out there who lack the true feel of what a community should be.”
