Queensland moped rider in serious condition following hit and run

A 26-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being knocked from his moped by a utility truck in an alleged hit-and-run incident on the Sunshine Coast.

Police say the crash happened at Diddillibah at around 8pm on Saturday and they arrested a 21-year-old man shortly afterwards at nearby Petrie Creek.

He has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while under the influence of liquor and failing to remain at an incident and assist an injured person.

He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 5.
