Queensland man pleads guilty to rape and murder of French backpacker

Queensland man Benjamin James Milward has pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of French backpacker Sophie Collombet.

Milward pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday morning before the matter was adjourned for a sentencing hearing on October 26.
Ms Collombet’s naked body was found by a passerby near the banks of the Brisbane River on March 28, 2014.
The 21-year-old from France was studying at Griffith University.
