Queensland man caught on camera allegedly assaulting two teenagers on a bus

A Queensland man has been charged with assault after he was caught on camera allegedly slapping and punching two teenagers on a bus.

9NEWS has obtained shocking video revealing the moment 47-year-old Royce Bell allegedly punched and slapped two school students aged 14 and 15 on a Route 522 bus at Springfield.

Police allege he had a blood alcohol reading of 0.19 at the time.

“It appears that the combination of alcohol, anger and short temper exploded on this particular day,” Sergeant Brendan Haley said.

Police believe Mr Boyce thought the children were pranking him when he lashed out at the teenagers.

“The footage shows the male person has lashed out and thrown a number of closed fists and strike the children about the face,” Sgt Haley said.

The bus driver, known as Julie, eventually pulled over at Ishmael Road in Camira and attempted to break up the fight by putting herself between Mr Boyce and the victims.

“I think she did an excellent job,” Sgt Haley said.
