Queensland man catches concealed policewoman by roadside

A Queensland motorcyclist has exposed a police officer who was hiding behind a bush at the side of the road to catch speeding drivers.

Ronnie Kaye spotted the police officer when he was riding his motorbike outside of Advancetown in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The policewoman is well-camouflaged behind the scrub beside a rocky cliff on the country road.

"OWH&S states that if you're working on or within 3 metres of a road you must (by legislation) wear a high vis vest as a minimum," Mr Kaye said when he posted the video on Facebook this week.

"After some safety advice and my personal opinion I wished the officer a good day.

"If they get hurt, guess who pays for it? Taxpayers do."

The video posted by Mr Kaye cuts ahead to the trees and bushes completely removed.

"Mission completed," he said.

Queensland Police defended the police officer's actions.

"While it is not standard practice for officers to conceal themselves behind bushes, officers are provided with the opportunity to deploy away from the police vehicle," a statement to 9News said.

They noted they had caught many drivers committing serious speeding offences during a two-day operation in the Gold Coast hinterland.
