Queensland farmer accused of sexually harassing worker

A Queensland farmer accused of raping a British backpacker sexually harassed another worker at his rural property.

The 50-year-old South Burnett man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with two counts of rape, sexual assault and deceptive recruiting of labour in January and February 2017.

A woman told the man's committal hearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday that she had experienced similar behaviour in 2014 while working at his property.

She said the man inappropriately touched her and once stripped naked for a massage.

"All I wanted to do was work out there, cook and clean, help out on the farm, feed the sheep, feed the chickens (and) put out the washing," she said.

"This man came onto me. He made me feel uncomfortable .... I was sexually harassed."

The woman said the man also told her he had sex with other backpackers who worked at the farm and repeatedly pressured her to drink alcohol.

"That is not right," she said.
