Man questioned over death of toddler in Caboolture released without charge

A 35-year-old man who was questioned by police over the suspicious death of a 21-month-old boy in a Queensland home yesterday has been released without charge.

William O’Sullivan, who is known to the mother of toddler Mason, was at the home at the time of the boy’s death.

Mr O’Sullivan was questioned for more than 24 hours before being released this morning.

Ambulance members were called to the property on Deanne Court in Caboolture at about 12.30am yesterday morning, and found Mason unconscious and unresponsive.

It is unknown who alerted paramedics.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen Windsor said Mason had “sustained some injuries”.

Snr Sgt Windsor couldn’t confirm who first alerted paramedics to the home.

Mason is being remembered fondly by neighbours and family friends.

“This is a shock… He was full of life and always laughing,” family friend Tony Johns told 9NEWS.

“He was a good boy. He’d only just started walking and talking.”

Mr Johns said Mason’s mother was pregnant to Mr O’Sullivan, and had three other children.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances, and are also questioning neighbours for information.
