Man's foot amputated in one-of-three Queensland work accidents

A 59-year-old abattoir worker's foot has been amputated after it got caught in a conveyor belt he was cleaning.

The man was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious but stable condition after the accident at Oakey, on the Darling Downs, just after midnight.

It was the third serious workplace incident in the state's south-eastern corner in 24 hours.

Yesterday, a man in his 30s had his ankle crushed when he reversed his three-tonne loader into a tree stump while clearing trees on a property at Bollier, near Gympie.

The loader flipped onto its side, trapping the man's foot.

A few hours later a man in his 20's fell nine metres through a skylight while installing solar panels on the roof of a rural co-op at Beerwah, on the Sunshine Coast.

He suffered a suspected broken wrist and ankle.

Both men were taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Workplace Health and Safety officers are investigating all three incidents.
