Man arrested after string of alleged break-and-enters and car thefts

A man was arrested in Sydney’s western suburbs after a string of alleged break-and-enters and vehicle thefts.

The offender, believed to be aged in his 20s, allegedly first broke into a home on Sail Street in The Ponds around midnight before later also entering another premises on Pebble Crescent.

Police allege a Toyota Camry Sedan was stolen from a second home by the same man, which was later found on Pearce Road in Quakers Hill.

Afterwards, a third home on Mansion Court in Quakers Hill was also broken into and another Silver Holden Commodore stolen.

Police tried to stop the vehicle however the man was able to drive away, sparking a pursuit.

Just after 1am, the vehicle mounted the kerb on Reycroft Avenue in Quakers Hill and came to a stop in the front garden of a home before the man fled on foot.

Police gave chase and caught the offender.

He has been taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing and is expected to be charged later today.
