A woman who pleaded guilty to bestiality for performing a sex act with a dog to please her male lover has had her conviction set aside.

The woman pleaded guilty to bestiality in May 2014, with a judge deciding to record a conviction in the community's interests.

But the Queensland Court of Appeal on Tuesday found the judge made a mistake as to the magnitude of that risk, with Justice David Jackson noting the woman "made a very poor choice which she plainly regrets".
