Woman in debt after $10m mystery deposit

A Gold Coast woman who had almost $10 million mistakenly deposited into her bank account now says she's been left thousands of dollars in debt.

Sue Lamb says she was worried she'd be targeted by kidnappers who would kill her if she kept the windfall that mysteriously appeared in her ANZ account.

The 49-year-old said she called the bank only to be told the money was hers to keep.

"They wouldn't do anything to help me and now I am really scared. I'm shaking just thinking about it," Ms Lamb told The Gold Coast Bulletin.

However, since contacting the bank, Ms Lamb said the money had just as mysteriously disappeared, along with $7500 of her own money.

She said she was still waiting for an explanation.

"I am really annoyed now because I haven't even heard from them yet," she said.

"The bank have just left me with a massive debt and won't pick up my calls."

An ANZ spokeswoman told AAP there was a mistake in a Bank of Queensland ATM receipt Ms Lamb received.

"We're investigating why the BOQ's receipt is showing the monthly spend cap rather than the actual balance," the spokeswoman said.

"We would like to apologise to Ms Lamb for any inconvenience and we will be contacting her today."
