Woman 'stabbed partner' at Qld hospital

A woman accused of repeatedly stabbing her partner while he was being treated at a Brisbane hospital will remain in custody until next month.

Nikki Leanne Huth, 28, faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, on charges including attempted murder and wounding over the attack at the Toowong Private Hospital on Saturday evening.

She did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody until her next court appearance on September 19.

Police will allege the woman attacked her partner with a knife in his hospital room, repeatedly stabbing him in the neck and upper body.

The drama prompted numerous panicked triple-0 calls from staff, who are being praised for disarming and restraining the alleged offender until police arrived.

"Staff have acted very bravely," Acting Inspector Tom Armitt told reporters.

"They've immediately rendered aid to the male person and they've immediately taken custody of the female person and disarmed her."

The injured man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with serious but not life-threatening wounds.
