Missing author Andrew Stafford found 'bruised but ok'

MISSING Brisbane author and journalist Andrew Stafford has been reported as safe after he made contact with a friend.

Screamfeeder guitarist Tim Steward revealed Stafford had contacted him in a Facebook post this afternoon.

"I just spoke to Andrew Stafford. He's coming home. Sounded bruised but ok," the post said. 

The 44-year-old, who chronicled Brisbane's music scene in the 2004 book Pig City, was reported missing from St Lucia on Monday at 6pm.

Police were unable to confirm reports Stafford posted a series of worrying tweets on Monday evening after his Twitter account was deactivated.

Friends and industry colleges took to social media to share concerns about his wellbeing.

"Sad to hear about Andrew Stafford. Hope he comes home safe," Sydney rapper Urthboy tweeted.

He has written as a freelance journalist for The Australian, The Courier Mail, The Age and Rolling Stone, while Pig City was republished in 2014 as a 10-year anniversary edition.
