Wear yellow and be kind on Friday for Allison Baden Clay's legacy, friends urge

It was her favourite colour, now yellow is the symbol of Allison Baden-Clay, a woman tragically killed, whose legacy lives on.
Organisers have named this Friday, August 1 - Wear Yellow for Allison Day - a day to remember, and to strive to be kind, as Allison was.
A day created by Allison’s friends, the annual event originated from a desire that the daughter, mother and wife they knew and loved would always be remembered.
Leading up to the event, the community are encouraged to wear yellow, and to bring some kindness into the life of someone else.
“Whether it be providing essential items to a person in need, carrying out a chore for an elderly person or something as simple as holding open the door for someone – we’re trying to bring something positive out of something terrible,” organiser and schoolfriend of Allison, Dee Hudson, said.
“If people don’t have any yellow attire to wear, simply wear something special that you haven't worn for a while or have never worn - maybe a new piece of jewellery, new tie, new perfume or outfit.
“I think Allison would feel very humbled and special if she was here right now.”
Ms Hudson said she was excited by the number of schools that had come on board to support the movement this year, adding that St Joseph's Tobruk Memorial School at Beenleigh have planned a yellow day this Friday.
“An 11-year-old boy by the name of Cooper asked his mum and dad if his school could do something so they helped him present his suggestion to the school council who consequently said yes,” she said.
“We believe yellow day and strive to be kind is a wonderful idea for school children.”
The day is also an opportunity to raise funds for the charitable trust established to assist Allison’s three daughters. Yellow ribbons will be available for a gold coin donation at locations across south-east Queensland.
