Two men charged with murder of man after alleged pub brawl in Townsville

Two men have been charged with the murder of a 30-year-old man after an alleged brawl in north Queensland.

Police were called to a hostel on Sturt Street in Townsville just before 9pm on Tuesday after a man was found dead in a bed at the Sturt Lodge by a guest.

The man had suffered serious head injuries which may have been inflicted by a weapon, police said.

It is believed the man may have been in a brawl earlier in the evening.

"People had been drinking, there was an altercation, the circumstances from then are the subject of our investigation,” Detective Superintendent Ray Rohweder told the Brisbane Times.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
