Two held over rural robbery spree in Qld

Two men who allegedly preyed on drought-stricken farms and businesses in central Queensland have been arrested.

Police allege the Kingaroy-based men, accused of a two-year robbery spree across 13 towns, stole more than $130,000 worth of cash and property, including knives, crossbows and cigarettes.

Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey said the pair showed a complete disregard for people's belongings.

"In a number of instances they've jeopardised people's income and livelihood," he said.

"The communities out there will sleep a lot easier tonight."

Sergeant Peachey added that rural communities have become "more vigilant" when it comes to securing their belongings.

The two men were due to face Murgon Magistrates Court on Thursday on 130 charges.
