Two charged over N Qld knife siege

A man and woman have been charged after allegedly locking themselves and two children inside a north Queensland home and threatening police with knives.
An emergency situation was declared at the house in Townsville on Monday night.
Police say the pair threatened them with knives and threw glass bottles over a three-hour period.

Two children who were inside the house were unharmed.
A 23-year-old man and woman face a combined 24 charges, including seriously assaulting police and endangering children.
They will face Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
