Two arrested over north Qld murder

Two men have been arrested and another is being hunted over the stabbing murder of a man in north Queensland.

The body of Tyrone Michael Baynton, 29, was found in the yard of his North Mackay property on October 11.

Detectives initially had no suspects but police announced on Wednesday they had arrested two men over Mr Baynton's murder.

They are now hunting a third man, 29-year-old Mala Owen Geissler, who they suspect is still in the Mackay area.

"Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this person are to contact the Mackay Police or Crime stoppers immediately," a police statement read.

"Police wish to emphasise that anyone harbouring this person is committing an offence and is liable to prosecution."

Police said they expect to release more information about the arrests on Thursday.
