Bruce Highway reopens after truck crash

Southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway in Queensland have reopened after a truck carrying hydrochloric acid rolled off the road on the Sunshine Coast.

The semi-trailer, carrying chemicals, rolled near Beerwah early Tuesday morning.

Southbound lanes were closed off just after 7am while emergency workers hosed down the site to dispel chemical vapours leaking into the air.

A 200m exclusion zone was eventually set up as they cleared the potentially dangerous fumes.

Fire and rescue staff are now working to salvage the truck safely.

Meanwhile, the driver has been taken to Nambour Hospital suffering from nausea and neck pain.

Delays are expected to continue as the traffic congestion clears.
