Truck bursts into flames on Qld motorway

A truck driver has escaped his burning vehicle which burst into flames after it apparently jack-knifed on the Pacific Motorway on the Gold Coast.

The truck driver sustained leg, chest and head injuries and the driver of another vehicle had shoulder and possible spinal injuries, Queensland Ambulance says.

The two injured males were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The accident occurred at 2.30pm on Thursday near Robina Parkway and involved the truck ending up on its side, with one of the cars it was carrying falling off the bridge and into Mudgeeraba Creek.

Southbound traffic has banked up for several kilometres, causing extensive delays and police say one lane has now been re-opened.
